I would like to start yoga, but there seem to be so many types, I don't really know where to begin or what's best. I'm in good health, have tried to up my exercise and improve my diet. I don't have any injuries that prevent me from exercising.

I'm looking to use yoga as a way to relax, mostly, and add some variety to my fitness routine. So far my experience with yoga consists of the Wii's version on WiiFit, but I'm well aware it's not at all like the real thing.

I have this friend who I have known for less than a year. We would spend quite a bit of time together and I was usually the one who initiated hanging out although he would also do the same. He would send me text messages about how much he missed me and I would do the same. We would send each other messages and tell each other about how much we loved each other especially after I moved away. We would both do the same unprovoked. There were instances that got me to think that he might have wanted to get physical. Some of these include when would drink a little and he one time held his penis and told me that if i were a girl he would **** the **** out of me which moved on to he would **** me anytime...later that night he proceeded to kiss me twice after telling me how great i looked. he told me another night that he was in love with me and he would turn gay for me. one time in my room well actually a couple of times he kept asking to see my penis and told me that he would show me his and when i looked disgusted he started dangling it in his pants. he told me a couple of times too that he wanted to masturbate with me. sometimes with one of his close friends he would touch him in front of me. before i moved away he took me out, bought me lunch and we went to some ordinary restaurant and he ordered an alcoholic drink for no reason then told me that if we play a game and i win he would kiss me. sometimes though when i told him that i missed him he would not say it back but sometimes he would say it repeatedly. After I moved and planned to visit him he ended up spending the night with me and that night he moved to where i was sleeping and when i didn't make a move he went back and then after i offered him something for his cough he offered me a back rub which i declined. The next day he started acting distant and did not want to hang out as much and when i was leaving did not hug me back after i said goodbye. i wanted to give him space and when i tried to ask him about what was wrong he kept saying i was being too sensitive etc... he then canceled our trip and then said some very hurtful things in a couple of our subsequent conversations. He said that basically I was the one who forced him into friendship with me and that I was too needy/clingy and I acted like I was in a relationship with him. He attacked the core of me and justified everything that he said by saying he could not approach me about it. He kept saying that it was a slow process that made it so that he felt like that but it definitely came shortly after we spent that day together. He doesn't seem to be that interested in a lot of women although he has hooked up with a couple before. I don't know where to go from here and I still love him a lot but he still seems angry at me... I noticed too that he would try to test my knowledge of the past and retell events in his own way which I knew did not happen like that. HELP! I don't know how to bring up this elephant without offending him or me looking out of line especially because he comes from a culture that is not very tolerant to the idea although he was born and raised here...

Other details:

Sometimes I can't tell if he is serious or not but I don't know how long a joke could last and I noticed too that when it comes to saying things that could be interpreted as gay he does not do it to me in front of his friends but he will do things to them in front of me. I have a hunch too that the I love yous come when he is alone in the room because sometimes on the phone he would hesitate but other times he would say it with no reservation and he began to notice that I would ask him who he was with for a while when I called...and when he started fighting with me he began to become more close to his other friends and make it more public on facebook but i don't know if this was to make me jealous.

I have tried to talk to him several times but he seems to get really angry and continues with attacking me and he acts like there is nothing else that I would be thinking besides this reasons that he gave me about me being clingy etc...

First off - this guy is not straight. He is either bi or in the closet gay. Lets get that clarified. He obviously wants sex with you but he is an emotional basket case. He can't deal with how he is. Intimacy could happen with him if you were a lone and the moment was right, probably after some booze.

He is a classic closet case. He will act like a whore when he is with you. But when he is around his friends he will attack the gay community and anything that is perceived to make him anything less than straight. This is why it is important to come to terms with your self and be out.

For those times when you are alone with him - if you want him - why do you keep shutting down? If you are going to be with him - it has to be when the moment is right. So if that is your game - next time that happens just go through with it. On the other hand - he is such a wreck right now - he will probably turn it so that you took advantage of him.

I sense some religious problems with him.

You need to decide if you can handle dealing with someone that much on the edge.

I don't think sex is your game - I think you want something deeper. Therefore in your case I think you need to have the intelligent conversation you need to have with him. Level with him about what you are what you are about. If religious issues come up let him know there are gay christian denominations and gay friendly ways to interpret the bible. Google soulforce. Anyway, steal your self up and don't let him say things that are not true. Let him know what is up. Call him out.

He will either want to see you in secret or kick you out of his life. If he gets rid of you he will find gay sex in some discreet way in the future - mark my words. He'll find a guy in a men's room, he'll go to a bath house or he will find another gay guy who can deal with his games.

The only thing you lack is experience. You have difficulty seeing all these angles. Read up on gay history, gay civil rights and issues. Join a coming out support group. Get involved with a gay community center near you. Find some mentors in the gay community that are not interested in you sexually. You'll learn some things and arm your self for when you meet people like your friend.

Mealworms are making my hedgie crazy?

yesterday i started feeding my hedgie mealworms because i want her to have a more natural diet. she LOVES them- like, adores them to the point where after i give her 3, she gets all hyper, trying to look for more, and biting my fingers in search for more mealworms. is it normal for hedgehogs to go this gaga over them? as soon as i open the container she literally stands up on her back legs and sniffs madly. i usually give her 5 per day. is this too much?

His experience would be hugely valuable to them and when he was recovering from injury I remember he trained with the Arsenal squad so he would fit in well there. i'm 100% italian, and i have so many friends and family over in italy, and i promised them i would learn how to speak italian.

i started teaching myself italian in march,
i can't even count how many tenses i can say verbs in, and i really don't even think about it when speaking or writing, it just comes naturally.
my mom now speaks in italian to me in the house so i can learn better.

Health vs cosmetic, stomach surgery.?

i've had 3 surgeries on my belly, 1 as the result of a birth, 2 was fibroid removal and one was scared tissue. Since then my stomach has plopped down in my lap, literally, It looks like a map with the two scares, one bikini and the other up and down. My muscles have become relaxed, my back hurts all the time (I think, because of the gravity) I think the fibroids have returned...My stomach weighs about 20lbs along. I know that a lipo or a tummy tuck is considered cosmetic surgery, however, I know some surgeries are necessary and not considered cosmetic if and when there is a medical risk. Does anyone have any info on this. Cosmetic wise, it would make me look better but I think I have a medical issue. O, I am not that much over weight except for my stomach area. I've also tried diet and sit-ups, nothing works.

I'm so busy i never get to enjoy anything I miss having fun and relaxing. My family is in between a big move into a new house and im busy with work and school. I work like 30 hours a week on top of school right now to pay for my insurance and a trip to NYC with my best friend. I need the trip to be this year because she is graduating next year and ill be so mad if i dont have enough money to go. I promised i'd go before she graduated and it's been almost 3 years (she's graduating early because she has a lot of college cred from high school). Because of all this stuff im going crazy. im so busy i dont have time to sleep in and enjoy fun stuff like shopping, being with friends or family, and other stuff i usually like. i'm too drained for exercise since my job is very physical (im on my feet all day). how can i relax and enjoy myself?

It usually very nice here in northern Italy - sunny and warm, but not excessively so for the first half of the month. We do occassionally get some thunderstorms and it's useful to have a small, folding umbrella, but most days are sunny and dry.

I've been taking a B-complex with B-12 vitamins and have taken a B complex liquid drop. I suppose they helped boost my energy but no remarkable improvements. Now I'm running low on my vitamin supply and trying to determine the necessary vitamins to purchase -- avoiding supplemental overkill and spending unnecessary money.

I took a health survey to determine the specific vitamins and nutrients I should be taking. I'm athletic and in good physical shape but suffer from poor circulation and joint pain (raynauds and fibromyalgia) as well as nervous system problems and poor concentration (non-specific ADD) and memory (pretty bad for a 28 year old). The evaluation recommended that I take B-50, Stress B-complex with iron and Stress B-complex with zinc (also Asian Chinese Red Ginseng and CoQ10).

I've heard that B-50 has many benefits such as supporting a healthy immune system, brain functioning, skin and muscle tissue health, but isn't included in a regular B Vitamin, which I read contains B1, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12.

So do I go with the B-Complex or B Vitamin and B-50? Do I need the B-complex with iron and zinc or is there enough of those nutrients in the multi-vitamin I take? As I mentioned, I don't want to overdose on B vitamins, don't particularly like taking lots of vitamins and I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses -- but I am interested in finding the right balance for my diet.

I'm a moderately active, 5'7" female, at 125 lbs, 16 years old and with a curvy hourglass figure. I'm vegetarian as of 6 years, I don't have any problems with my diet. I eat a high fiber diet(mainly from cereals and brown rice), mostly organic and raw foods, lots of fruit, vegetable soups and soy protein & kefir. I don't drink alot of water (or fluids) I was once a pretty chubby child, most of which has burned off by switching to a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet. I have a short torso, which has a little tummy chub on it I'd like to flatten out, and a flat butt which I'd like to build up to be a little nicer, maybe a little bigger and rounder. As of the beginning of the week, I added an intense 6 mile bike ride (on the toughest gear) to my daily living and any other varied activities I may do one day, but not the next and so on. I'm usually throbbing everywhere in the body and hot red in the face by the time I return, and my recovery time is usually around 5-10 minutes to be back to a normal state. I've been keeping up with this intense cardio daily, and I was wondering when I should start seeing the results I would like. I'm not looking to lose alot of weight to be stick thin like most girls on here are looking for, I'm looking to tone up my curvy firgure (not to mention work up a butt). I'm happy with the way I look, I just wanted to tone up, you know? If you have any tips I could use to enhance my daily 6 miles, it would be much appreciated.

The weight you are trying to lose is long term storage fat. The body placed this fat from empty carbs. It is the hardest weight to lose. Six miles is great, but you do not want to maintain a steady speed. If you can try to interval ride with your bike. Ride hard for 30 seconds, then just spin for the next 90 seconds. A ride of 20 minutes should be max when you perform that interval training. Again, you should be spent after 20 minutes, otherwise you are not putting enough effort in those 30 seconds.

Try to reduce your riding time, but try riding more times per week.

Regarding your diet, soy protein is just not very healthy. The more we find out about that product, the less healthy it looks. Do your own research, but I would suggest switching over to some type of wild fish. (I know the vegetarian mantra, but you need more protein.)

I also believe that rice and cereals will be just too much carbs for what you are trying to accomplish. Add in more vegetables and less grains. Also, you might want to think about an Omega-3 supplement.

Here is my favorite salad:

A salad consisting of a mix of kale, chard, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, olives, dried tomatoes, avocados, plus, kidney or pinto beans, walnuts, dried raspberries, and add in olive oil (lots) and lemon juice.

I was in Italy for a few weeks and I couldn't help but notice the incredibly bad breath on people. I would say 80% could kill a flower. Some of the prettiest and well dressed people there........but doggy breath. Rich or poor, didn't matter.

It could even be something like the brand of preferred tobacco and cigarettes.

Without knowing where you went to and what the circs were in which you encountered the bad breath... it's hard to suggest more! Before I emigrated from England, I noticed the guys avoided chicks from Russia... they weren't ugly, but when they smiled or kissed- sheesh. Not only were they mostly smokers, but they had an appalling standard of dental hygiene, and some literally admitted they never cleaned their teeth!

First of all, I know I am posting this on R&S... But the Diet & Fitness and Men's Health sections are overloaded with spammers, so I have to ask it here, where there is much more activity... Christ would forgive this, wouldn't He?

On most days, I eat:

breakfast:
Turkey breast (those ones that are supposed to be for sandwiches, but I don't eat bread)

Sorry to post this again...

This is a REALLY long story...any serious advice would be very much appreciated. I have no friends that are girls, no one to talk to - I need an outside opinion.

I dated this guy for 2 and a half years, he was going to ask me to marry him. The relationship was a long distance one which put some serious strain on us and me being a horrible person cheated on him. He forgave me and I made some huge sacrifices to gain his trust again but I wanted him and no one else. I made a mistake like many people do and I still hate myself for it. After this happened I went abroad for a few months and barely talked to him. When I came back things weren't the same. Went back to school and was tired of putting myself through so much stress trying to fix things between us, I felt like I was jumping through hoops for him. We broke up. A month later I met this guy that lives close by. He's a really nice, loving, caring guy. We started seeing each other - mutually exclusive but not officially dating. And I accidentally fell in love with him. We've now been dating for 6 months. It's been great, no complaints at all. I just seriously can't stop thinking about my ex boyfriend. He was a huge part of my life and I can't help but think I made a huge mistake. And whats making it all worse is that I'm at a huge fork in the road with my life. I'm graduating, finally, and I was planning on moving in with my boyfriend (I know it's a big step but like I said I don't really have many friends anymore, mostly due to what I had to do for my ex). It was REALLY hard for me to even post this question. Because I hate the Idea of us breaking up, because I do Really Love him! He is my first big love... but quiet often he makes me unhappy, so Im not sure what to do. Here are some facts to help you make your desicion:

1. Negative: He's often pretty cold around me, we dont laugh that much anymore. He's often so tired from work that he cant be bothered to talk much to me. He seems like hes not putting much effort into the relationship.
2. Postive: He loves to cuddel me in bed, and does often say "I love you"...
3. Neg: We dont often have sex, because he has a low libido... its very frustrating for me.
4. Postive: When hes in a good mood, he can make me so happy... that I want to burst.
5.Neg: He just dont give me the right attention... I just dont feel very wanted by him.

Of course I have my faults too, but it doesnt seem to bother him as much as his faults bother me.
I just want to be happy with him.. but he's just not the same guy I rember when we got together..
This is SO hard for me, I love him so much, and I cant imagine how it would be like without him around. Also Im so close to his family...

This is a question of what are you willing to deal with in the long run...if you can deal with his negative aspects then try to work through it with him. It is your ultimate decision of what you will and will not put up with. When you love someone and they mean the world to you, you learn to tolerate their shortcomings. Once a couple has been together for awhile, they start to get comfortable with each other. You may see it as he is changing, he is not the guy you fell in love with. Trust me, this happens to all couples. Once your relationship is established, your priorities change. It doesn't mean he doesn't love you. Plus, you have to understand he may just be pooped out from working. To you it seems like he is being distant, but in reality he is just tired.

theres this girl at school, well, there was, she became homeshooled. basically at first, since she moved into our town in the 7th grade she immidiately became the awesomest person ever. she was the only person to ever talk to me. and even after she hung out with all the preps she still came over to our table and sat with us, and all the emo's. she was really nice, and kinda retarded lol. she would laugh at anything, you could say potato and she would bust out laughing until she cried. she was so exciting to be around. then when we hit 9th grade she was at the top of her game. some seniors really liked her and i have to admit, she's super cute! (no homo) and her confidence was super awesome. she literally brought sunshine into your life. then in the middle of the year she moved away, back where she came from. then the yr later, in the middle of 10th grade she came back and she was completely different. at first when my friends and i saw her we freaked out cause she was back, and she seemed pretty happy too. except something was off. she was so paranoid, and she paints allot but never told anyone before she could draw, once she told me that was something she did when she was feeling upset and needed to let it go. when she came back she joined art class and she started painting ALLOT. once i overheard her tell our art teacher that she sometimes saw the things she painted, thats how she knew what to paint. she doesnt laugh at the things she used to, she doesnt seem that exciting anymore. her parents have allot of money so she would have all these awesome adventures she would tell us about, and yet. also, she used to be so guy crazy! her and her other friends would talk about how all the cute guys would say hi and what not and now she doesnt even seem interested. she's never had a bf so i kinda wondered if maybe well she's...you know, but she's not, turns out she believes in only dating people who could be "husband" material. before she couldnt go 2 seconds without talking, and now she'll only talk if you talk to her first and she wont say much either. and at first i thought it was just with us, (my group of friends) but it was with everyone. she doesnt do the things she ususally did. no one would ever dare talk about her before, and now its like, even if they did, which some guys started too, she doesnt care. she seems sad. and then one day, she didnt come to school. i heard from her other friends she became homeshooled. and i saw her at walmart a few hours ago and she seemed so pale, im afraid she's sick. i said hi and she just smiled at me. but it wasnt the same. its as if the life was completely sucked out of her. and, i dont have her number, no one does, i dont know where she lives, and i remember her saying she doesnt do the whole myspace/facebook crap so its not like i can call her and say hey!. how could someone so happy and special loose that spark and turn into the darkest shade? is she going crazy??? i told my mom and all and my mom said she could have psychosis. what do you think?

Okay so I just read the whole thing, and that is really sad :( What she needs is someone to talk to, but instead she is shutting out everyone. Hopefully, she is well-taken care of by her family. Just think though, if she suddenly changed when she came back to your school, then maybe something sad happened while she was at her other school, like maybe one of her friends committed suicide, she could have lost a loved one, or something worse. I had gotten a Wii back in Christmas and after I beat Super Smash Bros and MArio Kart it got pretty boring. Shaun White was fun along with Crash Bandicoot but those games were easy to beat and it only took me a little while to finish them. I had originally wanted a PS3 because I'm a big fan. SO I finally got one in May... it's 200 times funner then the wii. As for why I didn't buy an X Box I didn't really see a system difference besides the price, but I got a 100 dollar discount from Gamestop. Plus Drakes Fortune.

Last few months she's been changing. She's being really annoying. She yells really loud all the time and all the bad habits I have like saying frickin all the time which I stopped she copies them and takes them to extremes. I used to say dude a lot, but I don't anymore because I knew it could get annoying. Now she writes dude in front of every text. And out of all my friends she's the prettiest and all the time she's like OMG my hair looks like crap and stuff like that just so we can tell her it doesn't. I have been using Herb*Ox sodium free broth packets for several years now. They have chicken and vegetable flavors. Most standard and even low-sodium boullion cubes are very high salt, so this is a nice alternative.
Also google the "DASH diet" which is a plan by the AHA for blood pressure. They have good recipes and recommendations. The AHA has some good cookbooks, too. Check online for used copies.
Opt for frozen veggies instead of canned. Frozen usually do not have added salt.

He asked if I've had a bf before and if I like anyone. He was super friendly and we texted a ton and talked on the phone for over an hour! He kept talking about seeing movies together, going to the pool, going to baseball games, etc. together and about hanging out! He texted and called me the next day too! I said I could go to his baseball game and he said that made his day so much better! Then he said he was driving home and kept thinking about me for some reason.. Haha! :) I went to his game today but couldn't stay the whole time. He asked if we could hang out tonight and he came over. We watched baseball and talked sooo much!! An hour before he had to leave, he asked if we could hold hands. We held hands and eventually he put his arm around me and we "cuddled" (I guess you could say haha). He kept complimenting me. His heart was pounding so fast while we were cuddling. He asked if it was okay if he could kiss me. I really wanted to but I said I'm not sure yet (it's only our first date). He kept apologizing for being awkward and was really sweet. He kept tickling me (inside joke) and he hugged me a lot. It was amazing!!!!! The only thing that worries me is that he's had 3 girlfriends before. The last one, they broke up 8 months ago. I've only had one bf and we broke up 8 months ago too. He asked me to see a basketball game with him in two days and says he's soo excited and can't wait to see me again. He texted me after tonight and thanked me and said he had so much fun!! How to prevent burning hands with a straightener?

I don't use my straightener very often (even though it makes my hair look a LOT better..) because I'm afraid I will eventually burn my hands (or forehead or ears or something), because it gets really hot :S What can I do to minimize this risk? I don't get how my friends sometimes even take the straightener out and plug it into the nearest receptacle and start straightening like it was a hairbrush >_< I'm so scared of even using it sometimes lol. help?

Why does everyone assume Italian people have to look a certain way?

i am half italian and half afro-cuban (so i am biracial). but a lot of my cousins who are full italian are fair skinned (very light) and have green or blue eyes, and even light brown hair. and one of my cousins even has red hair naturally!

i obviously have some who are dark and fit the stereotype of being dark haired, shorter, dark skin, and dark eyed. however if u visit Italy it is so diverse and people look very different. u see the darkest of the dark and the lightest of the light.

why does everyone assume that all Italians look a certain way? often my cousins who are tall and fair skinned, etc... are told, "u cant be italian...there is no way, etc...". yet they speak Italian fluently and are very much into their culture. but its an ethnicity, not a race, so why are people always making assumsptions on how an italian should look? its just annoying for them.

It's no different than here. Somehow only the white folks are considered "Americans" while everyone else is "African- American" or "Chinese-American". I'm not certain just how many generations it's going to take before the designation is not acceptable. It's not acceptable to me right now.

You are Italian. If someone doesn't believe you- screw them. I wouldn't waste any time or energy on their little pea-brains.

my family are italian and ive lived in britain all my life, never even been on a plane because my parents were always to busy to take my brothers and me anywhere, anyway ive needed to start thinking about going to university and i want to study art i get extremely high grades in the subject and always have, i was wondering where a good place in italy would be to study art, and if it where possible to learn enough of the language in a year+ to go? thanks

first of all diet plans that you see in commercials are evil especially the pills. they also do not work.

what you need to do is eat healthier. make sure you eat breakfast everyday. this will jumpstart you metabolism making you burn fat. you dont have to eat alot but make sure you eat something like whole grain bread or cereal. adding something to your breakfast like fruit or yogurt or even nuts will also help.

now you need a snack between breakfast and lunch. eat a granola bar with fruit or nuts. even a salad would work just go easy on the dressing.

now for lunch eat anything as long as its healthy. whole grain or fruits etc.

eat another snack between lunch and dinner. eat a granola bar or some fruit or yogurt.

for dinner eat something healthy.

remember the key to getting in shape is dieting by eating healthy and exercising regularly. even a 30-45 min walk a day can make a difference. and eating healthy does not mean eating yucky food. it just means staying away from certain foods. chicken as well as fish are healthy as long as they are not fried. If you like beef try eating turkey. it has less fat and is healthy. if you do not like fruits there are many kinds of fruit. oranges, grapes, bananas, kiwis (one of my favorite deserts), pineapple, apples, strawberries, blueberries, mangos, avacodoes, cherries, and many many more. im sure youll find something you will like.
